Our own hydropower plant in Taxach, very close to the hotel, makes an important contribution to this. Our grandfather Karl built the power plant back in 1988. The electricity generated there supplies the entire hotel – 365 days a year.
Initiatives at the Platzlhof
Every day, we take measures throughout our hotel with one shared goal: to use energy, water and consumables as efficiently and responsibly as possible.

Responsible Use of Our
Resources

Over the past few years, we have introduced a number of measures throughout the hotel to make our daily operations even more environmentally conscious:
- Bath slippers are now only available on request at reception for guests who have forgotten to bring their own. As they are usually only used during the stay, this helps us reduce the use of disposable items.
- Our Gastfreund app provides all the important information about the hotel and the surrounding region directly on your smartphone. This allows us to reduce the amount of paper we use. Of course, if you would prefer personal recommendations or need any additional information, our reception team will be happy to assist you.
- Towels are changed whenever you wish.
- We largely avoid single-use packaging throughout the hotel.
- We recover waste heat from our cold storage facilities and use it to heat our outdoor pool and whirlpool.
Is there a charging station for electric cars?
Yes, you can charge your electric car at the hotel for a fee.
Can I get here without a car?
Yes. The Zillertal can be reached by train. We are happy to pick you up from the train station in Ried im Zillertal. Pick-up from Jenbach station is also available by prior arrangement and for an additional fee.
Where does Hotel Platzlhof get its electricity from?
From our own hydropower plant.
Do I have to use the daily housekeeping service?
No, you don’t. You can decide individually each day.
Is the laundry at Hotel Platzlhof washed externally?
No, we wash and iron all of the hotel’s laundry in-house.
How does Hotel Platzlhof handle waste?
We separate waste throughout the hotel and are continuously working to reduce waste from the outset, particularly plastic.
